Horse: Easy Keeper Feed, Textured/Loose with Pellets (16% Protein)

$29.10

GMO-Free, Soy-Free, Corn-Free, Vitamin-Mineral Ration Balancer for Senior and “Easy Keeper” Horses

Note: This feed is similar to our Out to Pasture feed, but instead of simply pellets, it is chopped loose grains, seeds, pumpkin seeds, peas, wheat pellets, kelp and more, with pellets to deliver vitamins, minerals, brewers yeast and other micronutrients. For a finishing touch, we baste the mixture with a tasty oil and salt combination that will have your horses licking their dishes. This feed comes in at 9% fat to keep bellies feeling fuller for longer. Review the guaranteed analysis for each to make your choice.

Easy Keeper refers to those horses that have it pretty easy. They’re in retirement, serving as pets, or just seem to get chunky (you know a horse like this). They still need vitamins and minerals (especially selenium), hopefully without spending a lot of time or money. These lucky horses expect to get grain just like the other horses, and they can be brats about it, demanding equal eating opportunities. But they can get fat, founder, or bounce off the walls if they are fed the same high glycemic index grains and easily digested carbohydrates as the Thoroughbred in the next stall gets. That’s what Easy Keeper is for!

Our Easy Keeper feed is tasty and wholesome, provides vitamins and minerals and thanks to its non-GMO sourcing, it doesn’t contain inflammatory ingredients. We start with whole grains and seeds, chop them and mix them with pellets made of vitamins and minerals and healthy additives like brewer’s yeast, probiotics and Redmond trace mineral salt. We mix in our signature chopped pumpkin seed, green and yellow peas for crunch and protein, oats, and a touch of natural maple flavor.

What’s NOT in there: We don’t use any fillers– that’s the job of the forage you feed. Remember that some of the most common fillers in commercially milled feeds include soybean hulls, beet pulp and forage byproducts. That’s a lot of GMOs right there in the soy and the beets, and who knows what else may be there?

FEEDING DIRECTIONS

This is a nutrient-dense, easily digested concentrated ration balancer intended to be fed with good quality forage or pellets to provide no more than .3ppm selenium in the total diet. It provides vital vitamins and minerals through low glycemic but highly palatable ingredients. It should be fed in limited quantities according to the condition of your horse. Some horses need very little, but they all want a lot. Seniors may need .5% of their body weight in concentrate in addition to forage or soaked forage pellets if dental issues are a concern. (1000 lb horse = 5 lbs.) “Easy keepers” may need much less. Seek advice from your veterinarian. This feed contains selenium; do not feed additional sources of selenium. Provide plenty of fresh, clean water. Introduce new feeds gradually. Do not feed old, moldy, or insect-infested feeds.
